Are New Years Resolutions Good?

It's New Years Eve which means people are reflecting on their past year and looking into the next year to be able to self reflect on what they would like to change or make better. But are New Years Resolutions really good for a person and are they achievable?


Did you know that only 25% of people stay committed to their New Years Resolution for more than 30 days? Studies also show that 70% of people abandon their New Years Resolutions within months. Wow, I couldn't believe this!! For a person that doesn't set resolutions at the New Year this actually shocked me. I have tried to set them before but I found myself abandoning them too.....but why???


Are the resolutions too much, are they not achievable? Who knows? But below are some steps to help you achieve goals or resolutions for 2025 for you!


  1. START SMALL=So many of us have huge goals but those goals can be overwhelming and daunting to a person. Break these BIG GOALS down into SMALLER GOALS. As you hit those smaller goals you are getting closer and closer to achieving your end goal which makes a person want to push harder!

  2. THINK POSITIVE=It can be tough to make changes in our lives but if we begin to change our mindset and think more positively about meeting our ultimate goal and changing that behavior it can boost our motivation as people. Put your focus more onto what the ultimate goal can help us accomplish rather than what we are being deprived of at the moment. Let's say my goal is to save $5000 by the end of 2025. That can seem like a huge chunk of money when you look at it but breaking it down into a monthly amount of $415 it can appear more doable. And if we have to decrease certain spending like going out to eat or buying unneccesary things to make this goal happening we can feel deprived at times, but it also shows we can make that goal happen which can give a person motivation.

  3. BE KIND TO YOURSELF=Change is hard so don't expect perfection. There will be times when you want to give up or your goal feels impossible to hit. DON'T GIVE UP!!! Review your goal weekly or even monthly to see the steps you are making to reach your final goal......baby steps are what make goals achievable and know you are a person and you can't be perfect.
